Pediatric Eye Exams (Age 3+)

Children’s vision can change as they grow. We provide pediatric eye care starting at age three, with a medical-first approach and clear guidance for parents on what we find and what happens next.

What a Pediatric Eye Exam at Dr. John L. Meyers & Associates Helps With

A pediatric eye exam helps check vision and evaluate eye health at an age-appropriate level. If your child is having trouble seeing clearly, struggling with visual tasks, or you’re simply staying current with routine care, an eye exam provides a clear starting point and follow-up guidance if needed.

We see children as young as three, as well as teens and adults, at both of our locations.

Signs Your Child May Need an Eye Exam

Some vision concerns are easy to miss, especially if a child assumes everyone sees the way they do. If you notice any of the signs below, it’s a good reason to schedule an exam.

  • Squinting, covering one eye, or tilting the head to see
  • Sitting very close to screens or holding books or tablets very close
  • Frequent eye rubbing, headaches, or tired eyes (especially after reading or screen time)
  • Complaints of blurry vision, double vision, or difficulty seeing the board at school
  • Losing their place while reading, skipping lines, or avoiding reading or near work
  • Short attention span during visual tasks (reading, homework, puzzles)
  • Clumsiness that seems vision-related (bumping into things, trouble catching a ball)
  • New or frequent sensitivity to light

A Clear, Calm Visit for Parents and Kids

Our optometrists take time to review your concerns, explain results in straightforward terms, and outline next steps. If follow-up is recommended, we’ll help you understand timing and what to watch for between visits.

Myopia Management With MiSight®

If your child’s prescription is increasing over time, myopia management may be an option. We offer MiSight® lenses for children who qualify, and we can discuss whether it fits your child’s needs and eye health goals.
