MiSight® Myopia Management

If you’ve noticed your child moving closer to the TV, squinting to see the classroom board, or saying distant objects look blurry, their nearsightedness may be changing. Myopia often becomes more noticeable as children grow, and many parents first spot it when schoolwork, sports, or everyday activities start to feel harder for their child. If these changes sound familiar, it may be time to talk about myopia management.

Myopia management is available at both offices and focuses on understanding how your child’s nearsightedness is changing and using clinically guided tools to help slow that change. We offer MiSight® contact lenses for children who qualify as part of a structured myopia management plan designed to support long-term vision goals, not just today’s prescription.

What Myopia Management Means

Myopia (nearsightedness) can change as children grow. Myopia management focuses on monitoring vision changes over time and using appropriate options to support long-term eye health goals.

MiSight® is one option we offer at Dr. John L. Meyers & Associates. Your child’s eye exam helps determine whether MiSight® is appropriate and what follow-up may be recommended.

When Parents Start Asking About Nearsightedness

Families often start exploring myopia management when a child has trouble seeing at a distance, moves closer to screens, or needs frequent prescription updates. If you’re seeing these changes, scheduling an eye exam at either our Clearwater or Port Richey locations, is a practical step.

How MiSight® Fits Into Your Child's Eye Care

MiSight® is a contact lens option used for myopia management in children who qualify. If your child is a candidate, we’ll review how the lenses are worn, what to expect as you get started, and how follow-up visits support safe wear and ongoing monitoring.

Recommendations are based on exam findings and the goals you discuss with your optometrist at Dr. John L Meyers & Associates.

What to Expect at a MiSight® Consultation

A MiSight® visit starts with an eye exam and a discussion of your child’s vision history. If MiSight® is appropriate, we’ll outline the next steps and answer practical questions about comfort, handling, and follow-up planning.

If your child already wears contact lenses, bring any current contact lens information to the appointment.
